MULTI-RESIDENTIAL BUILDING
Location: Vyron, Athens, Greece
Year: 2007
Status: Design proposal
Area: 300 sq.m.
The building is developed into three levels with south orientation. Vertical access between them is achieved through
a stairwell and an elevator situated at the Northwestern part of the site, so as to protect it from the northern
orientation. The structural plan of the building is composed of three joined parallelograms, constructed with
reinforced concrete. On the contrary the structural elements used to construct the balconies consist of metallic beams,
which are supported on each level by the corresponding slab. Another important factor that influenced the design was
the stabilisation of the buildings' microclimate through the use of special shading rolls situated at the facade and
controlled either manually or by automatic means. The slanting roof is shaped is such a way, so that 16 solar collectors
can be installed, which was calculated that they can cover on average 30% of the total oil consumption for heating the building.
